Hi,

I am a new user of Ansys and have performed Impact test using workbench explicit dynamics module to check strength of a structure.
I am not clear as to how is structural damping coefficient considered. Though Ansys give damping controls as Linear/Quadratic artificial viscocity,Artificial viscocity for shell, hourglass damping, viscous damping etc. but which one is structural damping is not clear to me.
Also, mathematically, does explicit solver requires damping coefficient ? If no can somebody please explain.

I will be very grateful if someone can help me as.
